MGL Simulates Gas Leak and Fire in Mock Drill to Improve Emergency Preparedness in Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai, 1st October 2024: On September 25, 2024, Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) held a comprehensive mock drill at its City Gate Station (CGS) in Mahape to enhance the team’s crisis response capabilities and fulfil regulatory obligations.

The drill simulated a gas leak that resulted in a fire at the City Gate Station and its associated piping system. The exercise focused on evaluating response times and the effectiveness of actions taken. The mock drill involved collaboration with various agencies, including the Rabale Fire Brigade, local police, Traffic Police, the Mutual Aid Response Group (MARG), the District Disaster Management Cell, the Thane Belapur Industries Association (TBIA), the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH), and GAIL representatives, all of whom played crucial roles in managing the scenario.

Following the successful completion of the exercise, feedback was provided by representatives from the Fire Brigade, Police, and MARG regarding the drill and potential improvements in managing such incidents. MGL’s response to the simulated situation received a commendation from the relevant authorities.
