Mumbai: Police Visit Ranveer Allahbadia’s Home, Find It Locked Amid India’s Got Latent Controversy

Mumbai, 15th February 2025: Mumbai Police have summoned podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia for questioning on Saturday regarding his contentious remarks on a YouTube show after he failed to appear as requested earlier.

On Friday, teams from both Mumbai and Assam police visited his residence but found the apartment locked, an official stated.

Allahbadia, widely recognized for his ‘BeerBiceps’ YouTube channel, sparked massive outrage due to inappropriate comments about parents and sex on comedian Samay Raina’s now-deleted YouTube show, India’s Got Latent. The remarks have led to multiple complaints from various individuals.

According to an official, Mumbai Police, who launched an investigation into the incident, visited Allahbadia’s Versova residence on Friday but found it unoccupied.

The podcaster was initially instructed to appear at Khar Police Station on Thursday in connection with the probe. However, after failing to show up, authorities issued a second summons requiring his presence on Friday.

Allahbadia had reportedly requested that his statement be recorded at his residence, but this request was denied by the police, the official added.

Additionally, an Assam Police team is seeking to interrogate Allahbadia regarding a complaint filed in Guwahati, accusing him of promoting obscenity on a publicly accessible online platform.

“In response, both Mumbai and Assam police teams visited Allahbadia’s Versova flat, only to find it locked. Subsequently, they returned to Khar Police Station,” the official noted.

The complaint in Guwahati, filed on Monday, also names Samay Raina, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija alongside Allahbadia.

On Thursday, the Assam Police team met with Maharashtra’s Cyber Department officials to coordinate their investigation.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Police and the Cyber Department, both conducting independent inquiries into the case, have asked Raina to present himself for questioning within the next five days.

At Khar Police Station, Mumbai Police have already recorded the statements of eight individuals, including Makhija, Chanchlani, and Allahbadia’s manager, based on a complaint lodged by a BJP functionary. However, no formal FIR has been registered by the city police at this stage.

On Friday, Pratham Sagar, the video editor for India’s Got Latent, provided his statement to the authorities and was released after a brief questioning session.

The Maharashtra Cyber Department has summoned approximately 50 individuals linked to the case for further statements. This includes participants from the show. On Thursday, actor and media personality Raghu Ram, who served as a judge on India’s Got Latent, recorded his statement with the agency.
