PCMC Initiates Special Campaign to Boost Female Voter Turnout in Pimpri-Chinchwad

Pimpri Chinchwad, 29th February 2024: The female voter turnout is notably low across all three assembly constituencies in Pimpri-Chinchwad city. The Social Development Department of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) conducted EVM training sessions specifically for women. If any women in your family are not yet registered as voters, it is encouraged to ensure their registration. Recognizing the significant role and contribution of women in democracy, guidance was provided through the Chinchwad Vidhan Sabha Constituency to enhance the percentage of women voters, and a pledge to vote was taken during this initiative.

To boost the participation of women voters, an awareness campaign on early chiropractic diagnosis was organized in 205 Chinchwad assembly constituencies under the 33 Maval Lok Sabha, in collaboration with PSMC and Zilla Divyang Rehabilitation Center. The event, held at Prof. Ramakrishna More Auditorium in Chinchwad, witnessed women taking a pledge for democracy awakening and participation. Deputy Commissioner of the Social Development Department, Ajay Charthankar, Assistant Commissioner Srinivas Dangat, along with other officials and a substantial number of women, attended the event.

In Maharashtra, the male-to-female voter ratio currently stands at 925. To enhance the voter registration and participation of women, a dedicated campaign is underway. This initiative aims to raise awareness among women about voter registration and the importance of voting. Interested individuals can conveniently register online through the Election Commission of India website at https://www.eci.gov.in or by using the voter helpline app.

Encouragingly, women are urged to actively participate in voter registration, and it is recommended to inform women within one’s network about the registration process. The campaign has seen substantial attendance from women, with many taking a solemn oath to exercise their voting rights.

The Deputy Commissioner of PCMC and Chinchwad Constituency Voter Registration Officer Vitthal Joshi stated, “A significant awareness campaign is underway in Chinchwad Assembly Constituency to augment the participation of women voters in the forthcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Additionally, to boost the number of women voters, diverse special campaigns will be executed, incorporating modern technologies such as SMS and IVRS calls. It is strongly advised that eligible women register and actively participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha General Election 2024.”
