Tata Harrier Electric: A Game-Changer in India’s EV Landscape!

30th December 2023: Presently, Tata Motors holds the esteemed position of being the third-largest car manufacturer in the Indian market, solidifying its status as India’s leading electric car producer with over 70% stake in the electric segment. The flagship Tata Nexon Electric has been a frontrunner in electric vehicle (EV) sales. Now, Tata Motors is set to bolster its standing by introducing impressive additions to its lineup, including the Tata Harrier Electric and Tata Safari Electric.

The Tata Harrier Electric made its debut at Auto Expo 2023, showcasing a design akin to its diesel counterpart but featuring a distinctive front profile. The front fascia boasts a new LED headlight setup with a connected LED DRL unit, a redesigned grille, and a bumper with fog light setup. The rear receives a revamped bumper, a stop lamp mount, and a connected LED tail light unit, all riding on sleek dual-tone aerodynamic alloy wheels for an enhanced road presence.

Inside the cabin, the Tata Harrier Electric maintains a familiar layout, introducing minor changes like a gear knob in place of the traditional lever and new leather seats. Infotainment features include a 10.25-inch digital driver display, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto. Notable highlights consist of wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, advanced connected car technology, air purifier, JBL sound system, and a gesture-controlled power tailgate.

Safety is paramount, with the Tata Harrier Electric equipped with ADAS technology, encompassing front and rear collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, time-out warning, lane return, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, and traffic jam assist. Additional safety features tailored for the electric version might also be introduced.

The Tata Harrier Electric is expected to boast an impressive range of approximately 500 kilometers on a single charge, aligning with the Long Battery Edition variant of the Tata Nexon Electric, which currently offers a range of 465 km. Although official details regarding the battery and range are yet to be disclosed, Tata Motors is anticipated to unveil more information soon.

The premium pricing of the Tata Harrier Electric is expected, considering the advancements in technology and features. Currently priced between Rs 15.49 lakh to Rs 26.44 lakh ex-showroom Delhi, the EV variant is likely to command a premium over its conventional counterpart.

As per media reports, the Tata Harrier Electric is slated for an Indian market launch by the end of 2024, marking an exciting addition to the electric SUV segment. With no direct competition in its category, the Harrier Electric is anticipated to carve its niche in the evolving electric vehicle landscape. Alongside the Harrier Electric, Tata Motors is gearing up to unveil several other remarkable electric vehicles in the upcoming year, signaling a significant stride in the electric mobility realm.
