Maharashtra to Open New Medical College at GT Hospital in Mumbai

Mumbai, 4th July 2024: In an announcement made on Thursday in the legislative assembly, Maharashtra Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif disclosed plans to inaugurate a new state-run medical college at Gokuldas Tejpal (GT) Hospital in south Mumbai starting from the academic year 2024-25.

The upcoming college will be affiliated with GT Hospital, along with Cama and Albless hospitals, representing a substantial enhancement in the healthcare education infrastructure of the region.

Initially planned in January 2012, the establishment of this facility has now received approval from the Indian Council of Medical Research. The college is slated to commence operations with an initial admission of 50 students, with the potential for gradual expansion in student intake in the future, as per the minister’s statement.
