Mumbai: Malavani Police File Case Against Couple for Alleged Brutal Abuse of Three Young Children

Mumbai, 3rd June 2025: Malavani police have registered a case against a couple accused of brutal physical abuse against their three young children. The complaint was lodged by the grandmother of the children, who came to know about the ongoing mistreatment and reported the matter to the authorities.
The accused, Chetana Patil (32) and Pankaj Kumar (40), have been living in Andheri since 2020. Chetana has a seven-year-old son named Priyank from her first husband, while she also has two children, Raghav (aged 1) and Vivaani (aged 2), from her current husband Pankaj Kumar. According to the complaint, Pankaj Kumar was allegedly subjecting Priyank, his stepson, to inhuman beatings. Neighbors captured footage of the abuse and showed it to Chetana’s mother, Poonam Parmar.
After being made aware of the situation by Parmar, Chetana and Pankaj Kumar moved to Malad. However, since September 2024, the couple reportedly began physically abusing both their own children as well. The children were allegedly subjected to continuous physical and mental harassment at the hands of the couple, with visible injuries from the beatings on their bodies.
Upon discovering the extent of the abuse, the children’s grandmother, Poonam Parmar, filed a formal complaint at the Malavani police station. The police have registered a case under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, as well as under Section 115(2) of the BNS, against Chetana Patil and Pankaj Kumar for their alleged inhuman treatment of the children.
