Veteran Actor Dharmendra Discharged from Breach Candy Hospital, Family Urges Privacy Amid False Death Reports

Mumbai, 12th November 2025: Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra was discharged from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Wednesday morning and will continue his treatment at home, doctors confirmed. His family has requested privacy and urged fans not to believe or circulate rumours about his health.

Speaking to the media, Dr Pratik Samdani, who has been overseeing Dharmendra’s treatment, said the 89-year-old actor had been in and out of the hospital over the past few weeks. “He was discharged around 7:30 a.m. today and will now be treated at home,” the doctor said.

In an official family statement issued soon after his discharge, they said:
“Dharmendra ji has been discharged from the hospital and will now rest at home. We request the media and the public not to spread rumours and to respect his and his family’s privacy at this time. We thank everyone who prayed for Dharmendra ji’s good health and long life. Please respect that, as he loved you all very much.”

Following the actor’s return home, Mumbai Police temporarily closed the street leading to his Juhu residence to control crowds of fans and media personnel who had gathered to catch a glimpse of the beloved star. Many admirers were seen holding posters reading “Get Well Soon Dharmendra.”

Dharmendra was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on November 10 after he complained of breathing difficulties and was subsequently placed on a ventilator. On Tuesday, his son, actor and MP Sunny Deol’s team, had announced that his father’s condition was improving and urged everyone to pray for his recovery.

However, on the morning of November 11, false news of Dharmendra’s death began circulating on social media and some news outlets, sparking outrage from his family.

His daughter Esha Deol took to social media to issue a clarification:
“The media is spreading completely false news. Papa’s condition is stable, and he is recovering. We request everyone to respect our family’s privacy. Thank you for your prayers for Papa’s speedy recovery.”

Hema Malini, Dharmendra’s wife and veteran actress, also expressed her anger at the spread of misinformation, stating: “What is happening is unforgivable. How can responsible channels spread false news about someone who is responding to treatment and recovering? This is extremely disrespectful and irresponsible behaviour. Please respect the family and our need for privacy.”

Amid the chaos, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh mistakenly posted condolences on social media after reports of Dharmendra’s death surfaced but deleted the message shortly thereafter once the news was confirmed to be false.

Dharmendra, one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated stars, is known for his legendary performances in films such as Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Phool Aur Patthar, and Yaadon Ki Baaraat.
