Navi Mumbai: Municipal Corporation Issues Notice Of Action Against Property Tax Defaulters, Request To Pay Dues By 15th This Month

Navi Mumbai, 9th March 2023: Property tax is the largest source of revenue for the Municipal Corporation. Abhay Yojana was implemented for property tax arrears to provide relief to the citizens during the Corona period. Municipalities with huge arrears focused on tax recovery. In the Belapur to Vashi division, action is being taken to issue a notice of seizure and auction on the defaulters, and the municipality has appealed to the defaulters to pay the dues through various social media by 15th March.

The defaulters have been given a certain number of days to pay the arrears, but if the amount is not paid, the property will be arrested, confiscated and auctioned. Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has set a target of 575 crores for property tax collection this year, and 450 crores have been collected to date. The municipality is making strong efforts to complete the property tax collection target by the end of the month.

“Payment of property tax is the duty of every property holder. Since the civic amenities are met only from the revenue collected, property tax arrears should pay their property tax arrears as well as regular property tax promptly without delaying legal action,” said Sujata Dhole, Additional Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Property.
