Agricultural Produce Market Committee in Navi Mumbai is Asia’s largest agricultural market. In this place, like other agricultural produce, dry fruits have a turnover of crores. Many times transactions are done based on trust. Ghanshyam Talavia took advantage of this. Kishore Modi owns a shop called Srishti Sales and Service in the masala market of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee, where he deals in thok kaju. In April 2022, a person named Ghanshyam Talaviya came in contact with him for business purposes.
Ghanshyam initially started buying cashews from them and dry fruits like almonds and pistachios from another trader suggested by him. And in some time the volume of purchases increased. Ghanshyam was always paying promptly or within the stipulated time. Ghanshyam was asking for payment in favour of Vipul Trapasia and Mehul Katharia. Modi had trusted him as he was paying money on time. He then made large purchases at regular intervals, indicating that he wanted a large number of goods. But the money was not paid. In this way, he took dry fruits worth Rs.45 lakh 43 thousand from Modi and some other traders from October 6, 2022, till date. But his money was not paid. Initially, Ghanshyam was repeatedly contacted about this. But he started avoiding it. Apart from this, when he inspected the address of the house and shop given by him, he was not found there. After finally realizing that they had been duped, the APMC police registered a case of cheating against Ghansham Talaviya, Vipul Trapasia and Mehul Katharia on Modi’s complaint.
