Mumbai: Verbal Spat Turns Grisly: In Heated Argument, Taxi Driver Threatens MLA To Cut His Limbs
Mumbai, 8th September 2023: At the toll plaza near the Bandra-Worli sea link, a shocking incident has come to light as a taxi driver threatens a sitting Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly to cut his hands and feet. The concerned MLA has filed a complaint regarding the incident with the police, and now the police are investigating the matter.
The plaintiff in this case is identified as Raju Manikraoji Karemore (53), and he is an NCP MLA from Tumsar constituency, which comes under Bhandara district. According to the complaint filed by Karemore, the incident happened on Wednesday morning when he arrived at the Mumbai airport from Delhi.
When Karemore arrived at Mumbai airport, he booked an Ola cab from Terminal 2 of the airport to go to the Akashvani MLA residence. When Karemore got into the car, he told the taxi driver to take a taxi from the relevant route on the Bandra-Worli Sagarisetu as the toll is waived for the MLAs.
But the adamant taxi driver had made up his mind earlier. He put down Karamore’s suggestion and started arguing with him. Looking the taxi driver reluctant, Karemore assured him of paying the extra tool money had the toll been taken from him at the toll plaza.
But the taxi driver was in no mood to listen. Instead, he got into a verbal spat with Karemore, and he dropped him off from the taxi at Vakola Junction, short of his destination. Appallingly, the taxi driver also threatened the MLA to cut his limbs if he said any more words.
After the incident, Karemore quickly rushed to the police station and registered a formal complaint against the unknown taxi driver. The police have taken all the necessary information from the MLA, using his OLA transactions and history, and started a detailed investigation into the case.
However, this incident has once again brought out the wantonness of the taxi drivers in Mumbai and surrounding areas.
