Thane: Residential Building Collapse In Dombivli West, No Fatalities Reported

Dombivli, 4th October 2023: In a disturbing series of events, a dangerous building in the Kopar area of Dombivli West suddenly collapsed on Tuesday. In the ground plus two stories of this building, a total of six families were living at the time of the incident. Fortunately, no loss of life was reported in this building collapse. Interestingly, a few days ago, a similar kind of incident happened in Dombivli East, where a dangerous residential building fell apart, killing two people in it.

The given building was built forty years ago and encompassed a total of nine flats. As the building was declared of a dangerous type, three families had earlier vacated the building and shifted elsewhere. However, six families were still living in the building.

On Tuesday evening, a part of the building suddenly started crumbling. Noticing the danger, residents of the building quickly started running out of the building. Within a few moments, the entire building collapsed in a manner reminiscent of a deck of cards being shuffled. This street otherwise experiences a high volume of traffic, but fortunately, no one was injured at the time of the collapse.

Following the collapse of the building, a billow of dust spread across the area. As soon as the civic administration got information about this, the assistant commissioner of the division, Sneha Karpe, reached the spot along with the staff. Traffic on this road was diverted for some time as a safety measure.

After that, the firefighters, along with the help of traffic police, removed the debris from the building the following night.
