Accompany Injured Persons To Hospitals, Don’t Send Them Alone To Get Medical Certificate: Mumbai Police Commissioner Tells Officers
Mumbai, 16th June 2021: In his recent order, Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale has ordered officers and constables to accompany injured persons to the hospital.
Many injured persons directly go to the police station to file an FIR, it is a protocol for police to go with the injured to the hospital for a medical checkup. However, it is learnt that police usually send the injured to the hospital and tell them to get the medical certificate themselves.
Mumbai CP Hemant Nagrale took cognizance of this breach of protocol and ordered the police stations to follow the new orders. He said that a memo will be given to the injured person and a note of it should be made in the police diary; after that, the police constable will take the injured person to the hospital.
He also added that failing to follow the order will lead to action against them. Senior police officers claim that the decision taken by CP will benefit citizens and it will also help bridge the gap between police and society.
A copy of the order has been sent to all police stations, crime branch, all joint commissioners, additional commissioners, deputy commissioners, and also to the assistant commissioners of police.
