All England Open Badminton Championships 2024: Indian Contenders Eye Glory

12th Mar 2024: Top Indian badminton players are gearing up for the prestigious BWF World Tour 1000 tournament, the All England Open Badminton Championships 2024, set to commence in Birmingham, Great Britain on Tuesday.

Fresh from their French Open victory, Indian doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are determined to make their mark in Birmingham. As the reigning world No. 1 in men’s doubles, they aim to become the first Indian doubles team to clinch the coveted All England title, facing tough competition against Indonesia’s Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in the opening round.

Meanwhile, two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, still making her comeback from a four-month injury layoff, will spearhead the Indian challenge in women’s singles. Sindhu faces a daunting task, potentially encountering world No. 1 and defending champion An Se Young of the Republic of Korea in the early rounds.

Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, notable semi-finalists in previous editions, lead India’s charge in women’s doubles.

In men’s singles, India boasts a strong lineup including HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, and Priyanshu Rajawat, with Srikanth facing the formidable Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in a pivotal clash.
