BJP’s Mumbai Yatra ‘Jagar’ For Municipal Elections Next Month

Mumbai, 30th October 2022: The BJP has decided to stop the Shiv Sena, which has been in power for years in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, at any cost, and as part of this strategy, the ‘Jagar Mumbai’ yatra will be held across Mumbai in November.

BJP is trying to create an atmosphere in the city through the ‘Jagar Mumbaicha’ yatra in connection with the upcoming Mumbai Municipal Elections. It is said that the purpose of this yatra of the BJP is to embarrass the Shiv Sena by making a public panchnama of the alleged corrupt affairs of the Shiv Sena Municipal Corporation.

Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar informed about the ‘Jagar Mumbaicha’ campaign in a press conference on Saturday. Shelar accused the Shiv Sena of trying to mislead the Marathi people by using the word ‘Marathi Muslim’ after defeat in the municipal election. Shelar said, ‘’Thackeray’s Shiv Sena is spreading lies to inflame the youth. The BJP will organize a yatra to respond to him and expose the brass of the opposition.’’

In the last election, the BJP was given short shrift by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. BJP has decided to capture the power of the municipal corporation no matter what happens this year. That is why BJP took a step back by withdrawing from the Andheri East by-election. Had the BJP lost in Andheri, the Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray group would have benefited more. Also, it would have created a negative impression of the BJP. To avoid this, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis decided to withdraw from the Andheri by-election.

Planning is being done with the view that only 227 wards will remain in Mumbai. Last time BJP won 82 seats. This time the aim is to win 100 to 115 seats. The plan is to win maximum seats in North and North East Mumbai.

BJP has started preparations for municipal elections. Department-wise and ward-wise reviews are being conducted. Which wards are easier to win and where to focus is being meticulously planned. In the recent meeting of the party leaders held in Uttan, a review was conducted on all six Lok Sabha constituencies in Mumbai.

Although the BJP has an alliance with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s party ‘Balasaheb’s Shiv Sena’, Shinde does not have much influence in Mumbai. Despite Shinde’s efforts in the last three months, there has not been a split in the Shiv Sena in Mumbai. BJP hopes that some former Shiv Sena corporators will join Shinde’s party if Shinde’s party gets the bow symbol before the municipal elections.
