CM Shinde Announced Establishment Of Science Centre In Thane; Assured Benefits To Farmers
Thane, 21st June 2023: n Tuesday, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced the start of a science centre in Thane and a science and innovation sub-centre in every district, while assuring that science and technology activities should be implemented in a manner that will benefit the farmers and will be given full support.
During the announcement, Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Chairman of the Rajiv Gandhi Science and Technology Commission, provided insights into the Commission’s functioning and the innovative action programmes it has been implementing to foster socio-economic development through science and technology.
In the meeting, it was decided to start a science centre in Thane, to start a science and innovation activity centre in every district, and to complete the ongoing project at Lonar Sarovar (District Buldhana) at speed. Chief Secretary Manoj Saunik was present in this meeting. It was also decided to integrate the Commission’s biomedical device manufacturing activities and various projects, Biomedical Park, Maharashtra Gene Fund, MSME Internship for Engineering Students with various schemes and policies.
Recognising the abundant presence of herbs in forests and surrounding areas, the Chief Minister highlighted the awareness of farmers regarding these valuable resources. “Herbs are abundant in our forests and surroundings. Farmers are also aware of them. By adding value to all these natural assets, farmers should benefit from it. Technology has to be made available to preserve the perishable goods of farmers for a long time,” Shinde said.
He further said that this will enable the development of 18 new towns along the Samriddhi Highway, so that there will be all-round development of the area in terms of various infrastructure facilities here.
