Cyrus Mistry's Funeral Held At Mumbai; Industrialists, Friends, Family Attended

Mumbai, 6th September 2022: Former Tata’s Son, Chairman Cyrus Mistry was cremated in Mumbai on Tuesday. Mistry died in a car accident on Sunday. The members of the Parsi community, some business leaders and political leaders attended the last rites at the Worli crematorium in central Mumbai.

Simon Tata, stepmother of veteran industrialist Ratan Tata, also attended the funeral. Simone reached the crematorium in a special van in a wheelchair. Former head of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) S.Ramdurai also reached the crematorium.

However, no other senior Tata group official was present at the funeral.

 

Madhu Kannan, one of the key officials selected by Mistry as the chairman of Tata Sons, was seen at the funeral. Cyrus Mistry’s elder brother Shapoor Mistry, father-in-law and senior lawyer Iqbal Chagla, industrialists Anil Ambani, Ajit Gulabchand, Deepak Parekh and Vishal Kampani, entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala, architect Hafeez Contractor, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders Supriya Sule and Ganesh Naik and Former Congress MP Milind Deora were present at the crematorium.

 

Mistry’s body was brought from JJ Hospital in a vehicle decorated with white flowers and kept at the Worli crematorium since Tuesday morning so that friends and relatives can pay their respects. Mistry was cremated at an electric crematorium just before noon.

 

According to those who attended, the family priest performed the puja according to the Zoroastrian tradition at a predetermined time before the last rites.
