Mumbai: Fake GST Invoice Racket Of Rs 132 Crores Busted In Bhiwandi, Main Facilitator Arrested

Mumbai, 11th September 2022: The CGST Bhiwandi Commissionerate in Mumbai has busted a fake invoice racket worth Rs 132 crores. A fake invoice racket issuing fake invoices, availing or passing input tax credit of Rs 23 crores has been busted.

 

 

 

The main facilitator of this syndicate has been identified as Hasmukh Patel and has been arrested. He will be in judicial custody till September 23.

 

 

 

Earlier in August too, the CGST Bhiwandi Commissionerate busted a large gang making claims based on fake bills to avail Input Tax Credit (ITC). One person has also been arrested in this case.

 

According to CGST Bhiwandi Commissioner Sumit Kumar, the gang was availing input tax credit through fake GST challans. A firm linked to this gang had collected ITC of Rs 2.57 crores through bogus bills of Rs 14.30 crores. As soon as this matter came to light, the owner of the company was arrested.
