The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested two people for allegedly smuggling narcotics through couriers from the US. In this case, 86 kg 500 grams of ganja was seized from Andheri East Sahar ICT Terminal. The arrested accused are Ahfelix Machado and Hemant Bangera. Machado is a resident of Dombivli, while Bangera is a resident of Andheri West. The DRI was informed that two suspicious wooden boxes contained marijuana at the terminal. Accordingly, DRI conducted a search operation in the courier room on Saturday.

An international gang is suspected to be behind this case. But as the seller is not directly involved in any of these transactions, it is not possible to reach them, the official said. Courier service is used for its delivery. Therefore, there is no relationship between the customer and the seller. As a result, it has become almost impossible to reach the accused.

Still, two people have been arrested in this case. In this entire operation, 86 kg 500 grams of ganja has been seized.

Sources said the ganja was hidden inside two wooden boxes in an aluminium casing. The accused are customs brokers. It is suspected that they were getting Rs 5,000 to 10,000 every time for transporting goods and other things. DRI is conducting further investigation into this matter.
