Formal Complaints Filed Against India’s Got Latent with Women’s Commission

Mumbai, 10th February 2025: Mumbai’s media scene is ablaze with controversy as popular YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, widely recognized as “BeerBiceps,” faces intense backlash over a contentious remark made on the latest episode of India’s Got Latent. His comment, deemed inappropriate and offensive by many, has sparked a wave of criticism on social media, culminating in a formal complaint submitted to the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission. The complaint demands strict action against Allahbadia for allegedly using abusive language on the show.
The uproar began when Allahbadia posed a highly unsettling question to a contestant: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?”
The shocking nature of the remark, made in the presence of co-panellists including social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, comedian Samay Raina, and content creator Ashish Chanchlani, led to immediate outrage. As clips of the exchange flooded social media, criticism poured in from all corners.
Among the voices condemning the incident was journalist and lyricist Neelesh Misra, who fiercely criticized the show’s creators. Taking to social media, Misra called out what he described as “perverted creators” shaping India’s digital landscape.
“This content isn’t restricted to adults—it can easily reach children through algorithms. The creators behind this platform show zero accountability. It’s no surprise that four people on the panel, along with many in the audience, found this amusing. In India, decency is neither encouraged by platforms nor valued by audiences, leading to creators sinking to new lows for reach and revenue.”
Misra’s statement resonated widely, fueling an already growing movement against the show. What started as social media outrage quickly escalated into legal action, with complaints officially filed against Allahbadia, Apoorva Makhija, Samay Raina, and the show’s organizers.
As of now, neither Allahbadia nor the show’s producers have responded to the controversy. However, the incident raises pressing concerns: Where should the line be drawn in the pursuit of viral content? And in today’s digital age, what price are we paying for entertainment?
