Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Visits Hospitalised Anna Hazare, Wishes Him Speedy Recovery

Mumbai, 2nd September 2026: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday visited veteran social activist Anna Hazare, who is undergoing treatment at Bombay Hospital in Mumbai, and wished him a speedy recovery.

Hazare, known for his anti-corruption movement and social activism, was admitted to the hospital after reportedly suffering from a kidney infection. Doctors said the veteran activist is currently stable and responding positively to treatment.

During his visit, Fadnavis enquired about Hazare’s health and expressed hope that the veteran social activist would recover soon and go on to become a centenarian, according to the Chief Minister’s Office.

The Chief Minister also shared an important development concerning the Kukadi Irrigation Project with Hazare. Fadnavis informed him that the revised cost estimate for the project had received approval during the Maharashtra Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday. Hazare reportedly expressed happiness and satisfaction after receiving the update.

Meanwhile, Hazare’s treating physician, Dr Gautam Bhansali, said that the activist was stable and showing significant improvement.

“He is eating and drinking comfortably and is stable,” Dr Bhansali said, adding that Fadnavis had been regularly seeking updates on Hazare’s health ever since his admission.

According to the doctor, Hazare was experiencing weakness and fatigue at the time of admission but has responded well to the treatment provided by the medical team.

Doctors have conducted several diagnostic tests, including a 2D echocardiogram, urine analysis and screenings for possible infections. The complete test reports are expected within the next three to four days, following which doctors will decide on the further course of treatment.

Dr Bhansali clarified that Hazare did not require intensive care and has been admitted to a special ward room at the hospital.

The 89-year-old social activist remains under close medical observation as doctors continue investigations to determine the exact nature and extent of the infection.

Hazare’s health has drawn concern from political leaders and supporters across Maharashtra, with many wishing the veteran activist a swift recovery.
