Maharashtra: Gadchiroli Police Seizes Huge Of Explosives

Gadchiroli, 5th August 2022: Naxal Shahid Saptah (Martyr Week) is observed every year between 28th July to 3rd August by CPI (Maoist). During this week they carry out various subversive activities against the Government and used various kinds of arms, ammunitions and explosives for this purpose. For this, they buy such materials in huge quantity and bury it in deep forest areas.

On 04/08/2022, an intelligence input was received that the Naxalites belonging to Korchi LOS, Tipagad LOS and Company No. 04 had buried ammunitions, explosives and other items in huge quantity in the Hetalkasa forest area under the limits of AOP Kotgul under Kurkheda sub- division with the intention to inflict heavy damage to the security forces.

Based on this intelligence, and as per order given by Shri Ankit Goyal, Supdt. Of Police, Gadchiroli and under the leadership and able guidance of Shri Somay Munde, Addl. SP (Ops.), an anti-naxal operation was planned. Accordingly, Special Operation Squads (C-60), Young platoon of CRPF 192 battalion and BDDS team, while conducting anti-naxal operation in the forest area of Hetalkasa, successfully recovered a huge cache of explosives and other Naxal belongings buried by them.

The said dump was hidden and buried in a large plastic can. Following items have been recovered by the police, viz. 02 nos. cooker (of which 1 was filled with explosives), 04 car remotes, 03 wire bundles, 08 packets distemper color, yellow color powder approximately 01 kg., Grey color powder approximately 02 kg., White color powder approximately 250 grams, White granular substance approximately 50 kg., 2 Naxal notebooks, 01 500 litre plastic water can. All this material was recovered from the spot and action was taken in accordance with law. 01 cooker which was filled with explosives was destroyed successfully on the spot by the BDDS team and remaining items were brought to Gadchiroli. In this regard, an offence has been registered and the further investigation is ongoing.

The recovery of huge cache of explosives on the backdrop of Naxal Shahid Saptah between 28th July to 3rd August has dealt a severe blow to the Naxalites operating in Gadchiroli district. The Naxalites have realized that the Gadchiroli police are keeping a close watch on their activities and it is going to be very difficult to force the common tribal people to commemorate the Naxal Saptah.

Ankit Goyal, Supdt. Of Police, Gadchiroli appreciated the police personnel belonging to Special Operation Squads (C-60), Young platoon of CRPF 192 battalion and BDDS team engaged in the operation. He also informed that the anti-naxal operations have been intensified in Gadchiroli district and also he appealed the active Naxal cadre to renounce the path of violence and surrender in order to live their lives with dignity.
