Mumbai: A Businessman Who Recently Bought A Rolls Royce Car Worth Rs 8 Crore; A Case Has Been Registered Against Him For Power Theft.

Mumbai, 14th July 2021: Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDC) has filed a case for power theft against Businessman and Shivsena party member Sanjay Gaikwad last week in Kalyan. The businessman recently bought a Rolls Royce car worth Rs 8 crore.
According to sources, a team led by Additional Executive Engineer Ashok Bundle inspected Sanjay Gaikwad’s construction sites. It was observed that electricity was being misused at the construction site of the coal mine in Kalyan. MSEDCL immediately sent a bill of Rs 34,840 to Sanjay Gaikwad. A fine of Rs 15,000 was also imposed.
As Sanjay Gaikwad did not pay the amount even after three months, Ashok Bundle finally complained to the Mahatma Phule police station. According to MSEDCL spokesperson Vijay Singh Dudhbhate, ” Sanjay Gaikwad paid the bill as well as the full amount after the police filed a case last week.”
Vijay Singh has said, “in case of power theft, the punishment can be up to three years imprisonment or both.” Meanwhile, Sanjay Gaikwad has alleged that a false complaint was lodged against him. ” If I stole electricity, why weren’t the meters on the construction site removed?”, Gaikwad asked.
