Mumbai And Surrounding Areas Brace For Thunderstorms and Showers
Mumbai, 12th June 2023: In an update from the Meteorological Department, residents of Mumbai and its neighbouring areas have been alerted to the possibility of rain accompanied by thunderstorms. The forecast indicates that the city is likely to experience light showers today, with the potential for thunderstorms in the coming days, specifically between June 13 and 15. Moreover, Thane and Palghar districts have also been advised to expect light showers during the same period.
To ensure public safety, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning for regions including Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha. The alert cautions residents to be prepared for thunderstorms featuring strong winds ranging from 30 to 40 km per hour, along with lightning and thunder.
Recent weather observations in Mumbai confirm the accuracy of the predictions. On Sunday, light showers graced South Mumbai and Navi Mumbai during the evening. Moreover, the city experienced light rainfall on Saturday as well.
As the forecasted weather patterns intensify, Navi Mumbai has already witnessed the onset of strong winds since the morning. The atmosphere in the region has become increasingly cloudy. Notably, Navi Mumbai encountered light showers on Sunday night as a precursor to the anticipated weather conditions.
