Mumbai: Appointment Of 800 Contract Drivers In MSRTC Cancelled

Mumbai, 3rd September 2022: Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) employees went on strike in October last year. At that time, drivers were recruited on a contract basis to continue the service.

 

 

 

The contract-based drivers who were responsible for maintaining the ST transport to some extent during the strike of ST employees will now be unemployed. The corporation has decided to cancel the contracts of around 800 drivers.

 

ST employees went on strike in October last year. At that time drivers were recruited on a contract basis to continue the service. The contracts of these drivers were extended in April.

 

However, now that the regular staff has joined, there is not enough work for the contract-based staff. Therefore, the transport department of ST has given orders to the division controllers of the state to cancel their appointment from today.
