Mumbai: Chief minister Eknath Shinde reviews road projects in MMR, Complete road projects immediately

Mumbai, 28 July 2022: Asking officials to classify various road projects in Mumbai Metropolitan region (MMR) for accelerating the work, chief minister Eknath Shinde directed to complete immediately short term and long term road projects. Chief Minister instructed MMRDA to undertake road repairs on a war footing to provide relief to people.

 

Chief Minister reviewed a review meeting of infra-projects in MMR was held at Sahyadri Guest House. The meeting was attended by chief secretary Manukumar Srivastava, BMC Commissioner I S Chahal, MMRDA Commissioner SVR Srinivas, principal secretary to urban development department Soniya Sethi, Thane city police commissioner JayJeet Singh along with Navi Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli, Mira-Bhayender, Vasai-Vira municipal Commissioners, Thane-Raigad and Palghar district collectors and Superintendents of police.

 

Expressing an immediate need to take measures against traffic jams chief minister Eknath Shinde said that reasons for the traffic jam in MMR region include international air-port, storage go-downs, logistics centre, container-truck terminals. Asking officials to speed up projects to reduce traffic jams in areas which face this situation, chief minister said that to reduce traffic load in such areas, in addition to speed up the projects related to roads and asked MMRDA to present the detailed project reports of the new projects to state Government.

 

Traffic jams would ease out due to road projects

Stating that due to Vasai-Virar multi-modal corridor, the traffic jams in Bhivandi-Kalyan and Dombivli-Ulhasnagar areas would be reduced chief minister Shinde said that it would also provide a fillip to development of this area and asked officials to complete this project by taking measures to expedite it.

 

Chief Minister Shinde said that Anand Nagar toll plaza to Saket Marg, Kopari-Patani bridge, Teen Haat Naka reconstruction, bridge joining Bhivandi, Thane coastal road, Airoli tunnel to Katai Naka road would be speeded up and it would result in removing the traffic jams.

Thane traffic jams to be removed due to Chinchoti to Anjur bye-pass route

 

Stating that traffic jams in Thane would be divided and reduced by Chinchoti to Anjur bye-pass route, chief minister Shinde said that the work of this route is with PWD and directed to transfer this work to MMRDA. The chief minister said that Shil Phata to Mankoli, Kalyan to Baapgaon, Kalyan to Titwala, Kalyan to Padgha, Tatwala to Badlapur road projects when completed would remove traffic jams in Kalyan, Dombivli, Thane.

 

Thrust on road widening in Palghar district

Expressing confidence that given a special thrust on road widening in Palghar district, it would provide impetus to industry in Palghar district chief minister Shinde said that Murbe-Palghar road would save time required for reaching Dapoli and reduce distance by 35 Kms. The chief minister directed MMRDA to take up work of road between VishwaBharati bye-pass Bhinar and Wadpa.

 

Directions to clear compensation for Shil Phata – Bhivandi road

Chief minister Shinde directed to immediately expedite the issue of paying compensation against land acquisition which is pending for Shil Phata- Kalyan-Bhivandi road.

 

Remove illegal speed breaker – Chief minister

Asking to remove illegal speed breakers on Badlapur road by abiding by rules and laws, chief minister Shinde asked PWD to give directions to all the administrative apparatus to adhere to rules and regulations.
