Mumbai: Multi-Storey Building Crumbles In Ghatkopar, Rescue Operation Underway

Mumbai, 25th June 2023: A section of a building in Rajawadi colony, located in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar East area, collapsed on Sunday morning (June 25), leading to a rescue operation by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The BMC’s Mumbai Fire Brigade declared it a Level I accident. The mishap occurred at approximately 9:33 a.m. when a portion of the multi-story building collapsed, causing concerns about the safety of residents trapped inside.

 

So far, the reason behind the collapse of the building is not clear. According to the information, no injuries have been reported thus far. However, it is believed that some residents remain stranded within the collapsed building, prompting an urgent and ongoing rescue operation by NDRF teams. Three NDRF teams are working on site under the supervision of Assistant Commandant Sarang Kurve.

 

 

 

Commenting on the situation, Maharashtra Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha confirmed that four people have already been successfully rescued and the remaining two individuals will soon be reached and brought to safety. Meanwhile, BMC also issued a statement stating that the Rescue Operation is in progress and all the efforts will be taken care to ensure the safety of the residents.
