Mumbai, 6th November 2022: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has announced that it will sell potable water from its tertiary water treatment plant at Koparkhairane to Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation-owned companies (MIDC).

According to Times Now, the water treatment plant was constructed as part of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) programme. The plant will generate more revenue for the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation in addition to providing potable water at subsidised rates to MIDC companies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) in June 2015. The flagship central scheme aims to improve the quality of life for the poor and disadvantaged communities by providing basic civic amenities to the country’s urban areas, Times Now further reports.
