Mumbai Police Conducts Special Drive Against Drug Trafficking, 8 Persons Arrested So Far

Mumbai, 9th July 2023: In a concerted effort to combat drug trafficking in the city, the Mumbai Police initiated a special drive spanning from July 6 to July 8. The campaign has resulted in the registration of seven drug-related crimes and the subsequent arrest of eight individuals thus far.

So far, the police have taken action against 318 people in this campaign. Senior police officials, including Additional Police Commissioners from all five Regional Divisions of Mumbai City, 14 Regional Deputy Commissioners of Police, 28 Divisional Assistant Police Commissioners, and numerous Senior Police Inspectors and Officers from various Police Stations, joined hands together to combat the rampant drug menace across the city.

A substantial quantity of illicit drugs, including mephedrone, ganja, charas, heroin, and more, with an estimated total value of Rs 42 lakh, were seized during the operation.

Over the past two and a half months, the Mumbai Police have registered a total of 500 cases under the Anti-Narcotics Act, leading to the apprehension of 568 suspects involved in it.
