Mumbai: Two Assailants Launched Acid Attack On Businessman In Virar, Leaving Victim Injured

Virar, 10th July 2023: In a shocking incident, a businessman narrowly escaped an acid attack that left him with severe injuries to his neck. Two unidentified assailants targeted a 42-year-old victim, identified as Mobeen Sheikh, who is a resident of Gopchar Pada in Virar, on Saturday night. The Virar police have launched a search operation to apprehend the accused.

Mobeen Sheikh, who runs a small business selling LED lights in Virar, had left his residence around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday to go to the weekly market. It was during this time, near Makwana Hospital in Virar East, that the assailants hurled a plastic bag containing acid towards him. Instinctively, he bent down to evade the assault; however, the bag hit his neck and caused him serious injuries.

Following the incident, Mobeen was promptly rushed to a nearby hospital. Doctors said that his condition is currently stable. Authorities have registered a case against the two unidentified attackers under sections 326 (b) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code at the Virar police station. As of now, the motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Police Inspector Rajendra Kamble of the Virar Police Station has confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the culprits. They are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to aid in the identification process.
