Mumbai: Quick-Acting RPF Officer Saves Passenger at Andheri Station from Falling Between Moving Train and Platform

Mumbai, 18th February 2025: On February 16, a quick-thinking Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer prevented a potential tragedy at Andheri station by rescuing a passenger who had slipped while attempting to board a moving train.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Pahup Singh, who was on duty at the time, noticed train number 22927, Lok Shakti Express, starting to move after its scheduled stop at platform 8. Rajendra Mangilal, a 40-year-old resident of Seven Bungalows in Andheri, tried to board the train but lost his balance, falling into the gap between the train and the platform.

Without hesitation, ASI Singh acted swiftly, pulling Mangilal to safety and averting what could have been a fatal accident. Upon questioning, Mangilal explained that he had a valid ticket for the train and was travelling to Ahmedabad. However, he had arrived late at the platform and, in his rush, attempted to board the moving train, causing the fall.

Mangilal thanked ASI Singh for saving his life and was then assisted to safely board another train, the Aravali Express, which was also headed to Ahmedabad. Railway officials have once again cautioned passengers against attempting to board or alight from moving trains, as such actions can result in severe injuries or even death.
