Mumbai: Rainfall Continues In Lakes Supplying Water To City

Mumbai, 5th July 2022: The rainfall in the lakes supplying water to Mumbai has continued, and the water storage in all seven lakes has reached up to 14.80 percent. Due to less water storage in the lakes, ten percent of water cuts have been imposed in Mumbai.

“Due to heavy rains in the water area of the lakes, the water storage will increase,” believed the officials of the Mumbai Municipal Water Resources Department.

Mumbaiites are supplied with 3800 million litres of water daily from Upper Vaitarna, Modak Sagar, Tanasa, Madhya Vaitarna, Bhatasa, Vihar, and Tulshi lakes. In June, the water storage in all the seven lakes was reduced. Due to this, the municipal corporation had to impose a ten percent water cut in Mumbai.
