Mumbai: Residents From Pimpri Pada Incident Not Yet Rehabilitated

Mumbai, 9th July 2022: Even after a severe accident that collapsed a protective wall in Pimpri Pada and Ambedkar Nagar in the Malad East three years ago, all the residents have not yet been rehabilitated. Out of the 155 slum dwellers, 73 have not yet been rehabilitated. The residents here are living an unsafe life every year during the rainy season.

A 2.3-kilometre wall built by the Municipality to protect the Malad reservoir in Ambedkar Nagar and Pimpri Pada area of Malad East collapsed at midnight on 1st July 2019. The water accumulated behind the wall spread across the surrounding area. At the same time, many shelters were suppressed under the wall, and many were carried away with the water. In the incident, 29 people were killed, and more than 130 were injured.

Former BJP Corporator Vinod Mishra, along with other Former BJP Corporators and local citizens of Malad, met the Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal and demanded the rehabilitation of the remaining citizens.
