Mumbai: SC To Hear Case Regarding Aarey Colony On 24th November

Mumbai, 23rd November 2022: According to PTI, the Supreme Court (SC) will be hearing the case regarding the felling of trees at the Aarey Colony for the metro on 24th November. The bench will include Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices Hima Kohli and J B Pardiwala.

The SC had initially disallowed the felling of the trees of the colony. The proposal for the metro shed was also opposed by various residents, activists, and environmentalists across the globe.

Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister, took the first step toward overturning the previous MVA government, led by Uddhav Thackeray, by moving the proposed car shed project from Aarey Colony during their first cabinet meeting, which was held hours after they took office.

Thackeray had immediately ordered a halt to the proposed project’s construction after taking office as chief minister in November 2019 and later ordered it be moved to Kanjurmarg.
