Mumbai: Six Drown in Sea Near Juhu Chowpatty Amid Cyclone Biperjoy, Four Persons Missing

Mumbai, 12th June 2023: Cyclone Biperjoy, currently intensifying in the Arabian Sea, has reached a severe level, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue an orange alert for the Saurashtra Kutch coast in Gujarat.

The impact of the cyclone is also being felt along the coasts of Konkan and Mumbai. As a precautionary measure, NDRF teams have been deployed near the coast, and beach access has been prohibited for citizens. Sadly, a tragic incident unfolded near Juhu Chowpatty, where six individuals lost their lives after drowning in the sea. Local residents managed to rescue two individuals, while four others remain missing. The Mumbai Municipal Corporation is leading search and rescue efforts to locate the missing individuals.

The distressing incident occurred on Monday evening, prompting swift responses from the Municipal Corporation, Fire Department, Police, and Health Department personnel who rushed to the scene. Currently, joint efforts from the fire department and the navy are underway to locate the four missing individuals.
