Mumbai: Water Cut Scheduled for South Bombay Areas – Essential Pipeline Work in Progress

Mumbai, 16th January 2024: Residents and establishments in certain areas of South Bombay, specifically wards A, B, and E, comprising Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Nariman Point, Dongri, Mazgaon, and Byculla, are bracing for a complete 24-hour water cut. The scheduled disruption is set to commence from 10 am on January 17 and will last until 10 am on January 18.

Apart from the aforementioned areas, the JJ Hospital vicinity and surrounding regions are also expected to experience low water pressure during the specified period. The inconvenience is attributed to essential pipeline works undertaken to enhance and streamline the water supply system in E ward.

The ongoing infrastructure work involves the closure of the existing 1,200mm diameter pipeline. Simultaneously, a new 1,200mm diameter pipeline is being commissioned at Nawanagar, Dockyard Road, as part of the comprehensive upgrade initiative.

Residents and establishments within the affected areas are advised to make necessary arrangements to cope with the temporary water supply disruption during the 24 hours. It is recommended to store adequate water for essential needs and plan accordingly to mitigate any inconveniences caused by the interruption.

The temporary disruption is a strategic measure aimed at streamlining the water supply infrastructure in E ward, contributing to a more robust and efficient system in the long run.
