Mumbai Woman Killed by Daughter After Argument About Favoritism, Police Investigate

Mumbai, 3rd January 2025: A woman in Mumbai was tragically murdered by her daughter after a heated argument over perceived favouritism. The incident occurred in Kurla’s Qureshi Nagar area late Thursday night.

The accused, 41-year-old Reshma Muzaffar Qazi, allegedly stabbed her 62-year-old mother, Sabira Bano Azgar Sheikh, during a confrontation. Police reports suggest that Reshma had long harboured resentment towards her mother, believing that Sabira favoured her elder sister.

Sabira, who lived with her son in Mumbra, had visited Reshma in Qureshi Nagar when the dispute began. The argument intensified as Reshma accused her mother of showing bias, which ultimately led her to grab a knife from the kitchen and fatally stab Sabira.

After committing the crime, Reshma walked into the Chunabhatti police station and confessed to the murder. Officers responded promptly, confirmed Sabira’s death, and took Reshma into custody.

The police are currently investigating the case, recording statements from family members and neighbours, and examining Reshma’s mental state to understand the circumstances leading to the crime.
