Navi Mumbai: Bodies of Mother and Son Found in Kamothe Flat Amid Gas Leak Investigation
Navi Mumbai, 2nd January 2025: The bodies of a 45-year-old man and his 70-year-old mother were discovered at their residence in Sector 6 of Kamothe on Wednesday evening.
Kamothe police initially responded to a call about a gas leak from a flat in Dreamland Society, Sector 6. Upon arriving with the fire brigade team, the police found the flat locked from the inside, prompting the fire brigade to break down the door.
Once inside, the fire brigade addressed the gas leak, and the authorities found the two deceased individuals lying on a bed. The victims were identified as Jitendra Jaggi (45) and Geeta Jaggi (70).
According to police, the man had injuries to his face and head, while the mother showed no signs of injury. The gas stove burners were found open, causing the leak. “We are investigating both possibilities — whether it was a murder or a suicide,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police Ashok Rajput.
The mother worked as a small-time estate agent, and the son took on various jobs. The two lived in a rented flat. “Only after receiving the post-mortem report can we confirm whether it was a murder or a suicide,” Rajput added. An accidental death report has been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
