Navi Mumbai International Airport to Commence Operations by Year-End, Union Minister Scindia Unveils Ambitious Aviation Expansion Plans

Navi Mumbai, 12th January 2024: In a significant development for the region, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced that the Navi Mumbai International Airport is poised to commence operations by the end of this year. The announcement came during the inauguration of the AAR-Indamer Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at the MIHAN SEZ in Nagpur.

Minister Scindia emphasized the monumental importance of the Navi Mumbai airport, describing it as a substantial development for the region and the realization of a dream that the country has eagerly awaited for the past 60 years.

Beyond the immediate news of the Navi Mumbai airport, Scindia unveiled ambitious plans for the expansion of airport infrastructure across India. He disclosed that within the next 10 to 15 years, at least 10 cities in the country are expected to have two airports each. Understanding the government’s commitment to this vision, the minister expressed his intention to personally inspect airports in Kolhapur, Pune, and Navi Mumbai.

In addition to the Navi Mumbai airport announcement, Minister Scindia inaugurated the AAR-Indamer MRO facility. This state-of-the-art facility is a collaborative effort between AAR, a leading Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul company from the USA, and Indamer Technics Private Limited. Geared towards providing maintenance services to aircraft fleets operating in India and the surrounding regions, the facility stands as a testament to the growing importance of the aviation sector in the country.

The AAR-Indamer MRO facility is a result of a collaboration between AAR Corp and Indamer Aviation, the oldest and largest general aviation MRO company in India. This greenfield facility is poised to play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and safety of aircraft fleets operating in the region.
