Pune: NCP Nominees Added to Committee Overseeing Development In Villages Merged With PMC

Pune, 16th March 2024: Leading up to the Lok Sabha elections, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) found itself excluded from the 18-member committee designated by the Maharashtra State Government to oversee development initiatives in 34 villages merged within the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). Nine NCP office bearers have now been added to this committee.

These 34 villages have a significant influence on the Baramati and Shirur constituencies, yet they have been experiencing a lack of development initiatives. To address this, a committee of people’s representatives, chaired by the Divisional Commissioner, was established to monitor progress. Initially comprising 12 members, the committee was later expanded to include 18 members.

On Monday (11th March), the Maharashtra State Government unveiled the list of 18 members, dominated by representatives from the Shiv Sena and BJP. In response to the NCP’s discontent, and mindful of potential ramifications on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Maharashtra Government swiftly amended its decision, appointing nine individuals nominated by the NCP.

Among the appointees are:
1. Pandurang Khese for Wagholi
2. Baburao Chandere for Sus, Mhalunge, and Bavdhan
3. Datta Dhankawade for Narhe, Shivne, Uttam Nagar, and Dhayari
4. Rakesh Kamthe for Undri Pisoli and Wadachi Wadi
5. Bhagwan Bhadale for Mantarwadi and Devachi Uruli
6. Shantaram Katke for Katkewadi, Wagholi
7. Ganesh Dhore for Dhore Wasti, Phursungi, and Bhekrai Nagar
8. Rahul Pokle for Dhayari
