Teen Truck Driver Causes Fatal Crash in Thane, One Dead and Another Injured

Thane, 13th January 2025: A man was killed, and another person injured when a truck, driven by a 15-year-old, crashed into two auto-rickshaws before falling into a pit at a Metro construction site in Thane city, Maharashtra, on Monday, according to police.

The truck driver was apprehended after the incident.

The crash occurred at 2:30 am near Suraj Water Park on Ghodbunder Road, one of the city’s main routes, causing traffic disruptions for a period, police stated.

The minor driver reportedly lost control of the truck, which struck two auto-rickshaws parked along the roadside before plunging into a pit at the Metro construction site.

Jitendra Mohan Kamble (31), a local resident travelling in one of the auto-rickshaws, sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at a government hospital, police said.

Another passenger in the second auto-rickshaw suffered severe injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

The Kasarvadavali police detained the underage driver and filed an FIR against him under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act.

Traffic police later cleared the wreckage with the assistance of a towing vehicle, restoring normal traffic flow on the road.
