Terrorists Arrested in Pune Unveiled as Bullion Shop Robbers Funding Extremist Activities

Pune, 13th March 2024: In the course of the investigation into the arrest of two terrorists by the Pune Police last year, a startling revelation has emerged. These individuals not only posed a serious threat but were also involved in an act of robbing a bullion shop, utilizing the stolen gold to fund their terrorist activities. This revelation was reported by ABP Majha.

The apprehended terrorists have been identified as Mohammad Yunus Khan and Mohammad Yakub Saqib, both of whom were arrested by the Pune Police on July 18, 2023. Both individuals were on the most-wanted list of terrorists.

The case was subsequently transferred to the central system, and the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) also took up the investigation. During their inquiries, the Pune ATS team uncovered that these two individuals had robbed a bullion shop in Satara. The loot amounted to jewellery worth lakhs of rupees, and the proceeds from the sale of these stolen ornaments were channelled into funding their terrorist activities.

Additionally, the Pune Police investigation shed light on their presence at various locations within the city, including Koregaon Park, Shaniwarwada, and the Dagdusheth Halwai Temple area. The interconnected nature of their activities in these diverse places underscores the severity of the situation and the need for a comprehensive investigation into their criminal and terrorist endeavours.
