Bhayander, 7th January 2024: In a recent and contentious development, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Jitendra Awhad finds himself entangled in a legal battle, as a case has been filed against him at Bhayander’s Navghar Police Station. The complaint, lodged by the Bajrang Dal, alleges that Awhad made an offensive statement about Lord Ram, further intensifying the already charged atmosphere.
The controversy erupted when Jitendra Awhad made a statement claiming that Ram belongs to the Bahujan community and is a non-vegetarian. This assertion has triggered statewide outrage, with various groups expressing their displeasure and demanding legal repercussions against the MLA.
Despite Awhad’s attempt to defuse the situation through a public apology, the controversy refuses to wane. Across Maharashtra, multiple complaints are being registered against Awhad, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
In Bhayander, the Bajrang Dal swiftly responded by filing an official complaint against Jitendra Awhad. In a proactive move, the police have registered a case under Section 295 (A) of the Indian Penal Code, invoking the charge of hurting religious sentiments.
