Thane: Kalyan Municipality Seals Offices Of Pending Property Taxers

Thane, 27th March 2023: Kalyan Dombivli municipality officials on Friday sealed properties of non-payers of regular and arrears of property tax despite sending repeated reminder letters. These defaulters have total arrears of Rs.1 crore 25 lakhs. Assistant Commissioner Suhas Gupte informed that the officials of this ward in Dombivli West on Friday sealed the properties of the property owners with a total outstanding amount of 71.77 lakh.

Prasad Bar and Restaurant, adjacent to Satya Hall near Bhagshala Maidan, is a hotel owned by a former corporator, Bhavin R. Patel. His office was sealed for non-payment of tax of Rs 27 lakh. Apart from this, the water connections of many societies were cut due to non-payment of tax on time, said Assistant Commissioner Gupte.

Four days are left before the end of the financial year. Earlier, the Commissioner ordered to collect tax from property tax arrears. As per this order, Assistant Commissioner Gupte’s team on Friday sealed the properties of defaulting societies, developers, and business owners in this ward.

Rajaram Sankul, Krishnai Darshan, Vighnaharta Park, Tulshi Puja, Shiv Darshan, Om Hari Hareshwar, Sai Anand, Gagangiri, and Dhavani had not paid property tax. After the water connection of these societies was cut, they promptly paid the tax. This action will continue. Assistant Commissioner Gupte has appealed that defaulters pay tax immediately to avoid action.

In Acharya Atre Rangmandir in Kalyan, many property tax arrears were not paid by the owners of the land on rent. Regular tax payment notices were sent to them. Despite the end of the financial year, since the owners were not paying the tax, on the order of the Commissioner, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Vandana Gulve, Sub-Engineer Seema Athawa, Superintendent Bhagaji Bhangre’s team sealed the nine owners. They have arrears of Rs 52.49 lakh.
