Thane Lok Sabha Seat to be Contested Under Shiv Sena’s Iconic Symbol, Says Deepak Kesarkar

Thane, 6th April 2024: In a recent development in Navi Mumbai, Shiv Sena leader and state minister Deepak Kesarkar asserted that the Thane Lok Sabha seat will be contested under the party’s iconic bow and arrow symbol. This declaration emerges amidst the ongoing negotiations and rivalry between Shiv Sena and BJP for control over the significant constituency, which holds a strong influence due to CM Eknath Shinde’s leadership.

The announcement took place during a gathering of the Navi Mumbai unit of Shiv Sena in Airoli, where party members reiterated their demand for the ticket. Speculation surrounds BJP’s Airoli MLA Ganesh Naik and his son, former MP Sanjeev Naik, as potential contenders for the constituency, leading to internal discord within Shiv Sena, particularly in Navi Mumbai.

Addressing the gathering, Kesarkar affirmed, “Regardless of the candidate, the bow and arrow symbol will unequivocally represent the Thane Lok Sabha seat.”

In subsequent media interactions, he explained, “There’s a strong sentiment among Shiv Sena party workers that Balasaheb Thackeray’s iconic bow and arrow must remain in Thane. The identity of the candidate is secondary.”

He further elucidated, “Thane holds significance as the stronghold of our late leader Anand Dighe and now CM Shinde. With our MLAs in the region, the demand for this seat is justified.” Kesarkar reassured party members that internal differences would be resolved, highlighting the unity within the Mahayuti alliance.

Vijay Chougule, Shiv Sena Navi Mumbai chief, emphasized, “We urge our chief minister that since Shiv Sena has a majority of voters in the Thane Lok Sabha constituency, it should secure the seat at all costs. The victory should be achieved under the symbol of the bow and arrow, regardless of the candidate.”

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena leaders criticized sitting MP Rajan Vichare, representing Shiv Sena (UBT). According to Shiv Sena Upneta Vijay Nahata, “Our candidate is assured of victory, given the incumbent MP’s lack of performance over the past decade. Party workers have been the driving force behind all initiatives, while Vichare’s response to public needs has been inadequate.”

Naresh Mhaske added, “Vichare’s actions have been contradictory, oscillating between religious rituals and offensive language. His re-election in the past relied solely on party workers’ efforts. This time, he won’t wield the same influence, and we are determined to assert our authority.”
