Thane: Police Constable Collapses On Duty In Dongri, Declared Dead At J. J. Hospital

Dongri, 3rd October 2023: In a tragic incident, Police Constable Somnath Godse, while on patrol duty in the Wadibandar area of Dongri, collapsed due to dizziness on Saturday night. Despite swift efforts to save him, he was declared dead upon arrival at J. J. Hospital. The Dongri police station has registered a case of accidental death in this regard.

Godse, who had been serving in the police force since 1999, hails originally from Khatav taluka in Satara district. On the night of the incident, he had reported to duty at the Dongri police station for a night vigil assignment. He was assigned to the Dongri-3 mobile patrol vehicle, where he was accompanied by Police Constable Desle.

The unfortunate turn of events occurred while the patrol vehicle was monitoring the dock area at Wadibandar. Godse suddenly began to feel unwell, experiencing dizziness that quickly escalated. As his condition deteriorated, he fainted inside the vehicle, prompting Constable Desle to immediately report the situation via phone.

In response to the call, Godse was swiftly transported to Sir J. J. Hospital in the Mobile-1 vehicle. However, despite the efforts of medical professionals, his condition continued to deteriorate, and tragically, he was declared dead at approximately midnight following a thorough medical examination.

The Dongri police have initiated an investigation into the incident, registering the case of accidental death.
