Thane: Shoe Seller Assaulted In Dombivli East Following Accusations Of Theft

Dombivli, 3rd October 2023: A shocking incident unfolded on Monday evening in the eastern part of Dombivli when a cobbler selling shoes on Phadke Street became the victim of a brutal assault after calling the accused a ‘thief’. The complainant, identified as Sunil Bhagirath Mandrai, a 45-year-old resident of Rohidas Chawl on Savarkar Road, is now recuperating in the hospital. The alleged assailant, Mukesh Namane, aged 35, is under investigation by the Dombivli police.

According to the account of events, Mandrai was conducting his business, selling slippers, on Phadke Street on Monday. It was during this time that Mukesh Namane passed by the vendor’s stall. In a sudden confrontation, Sunil reportedly called out to Mukesh, accusing him of being a thief.

In a fit of rage, Namane retaliated with extreme violence, subjecting Sunil to a severe beating. The assault was so vicious that it resulted in a fracture in Sunil’s leg. He was promptly rushed to the hospital for medical attention, where he is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.

In response to this harrowing incident, Mandrai lodged a formal complaint with the Dombivli police, prompting the initiation of an official investigation. Sub-Inspector P. K. Hasgule has been assigned to lead the inquiry into this case of assault.
