Train Horns Fill the Air as Mumbai Celebrates New Year at CSMT
Mumbai, 1st January 2025: As the clock struck midnight, the sounds of train horns filled the air at Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), marking a unique New Year’s Eve tradition. The simultaneous honking of all trains at the iconic station has become a signature event of the station’s celebrations.
Union Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, shared a video of the moment on X, wishing everyone a happy 2025. The video captured the clock striking 00:00, followed by the harmonious symphony of train horns, a spectacle that commuters eagerly recorded and shared on social media.
One X user remarked, “Sea vessels also blow their horns at full volume,” drawing a parallel to the unique display at CSMT.
Mumbai rang in the New Year with vibrant parties and cultural events, featuring live music and thematic decorations. Popular spots like Marine Drive, Juhu Beach, and Worli Sea Face sparkled with lights as fireworks illuminated the sky, with crowds celebrating both on the streets and from their homes, balconies, and rooftops.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai police launched a special drive to promote road safety and curb drunk driving on New Year’s Eve.
