Western Railway: Special Ganpati Festival Trains for 2026; Services to Connect Mumbai, Konkan, Gujarat and Karnataka
Mumbai, 6th August 2026 : In view of the anticipated surge in passenger travel during the upcoming Ganesh Festival, Western Railway has announced a series of special festival trains under the ‘Train on Demand’ (TOD) scheme.
The special services are aimed at providing additional travel options for devotees and holiday travellers by connecting major railway stations in Mumbai and Gujarat with key destinations in Maharashtra’s Konkan region and Karnataka.
According to Western Railway officials, the Ganpati special trains have been introduced to ease the heavy rush witnessed every year during the festive season, when thousands of people travel from Mumbai and Gujarat to their native places to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi.
The services will operate as Train on Demand (TOD) specials, allowing the Railways to cater to increased passenger demand during the festival period. The additional trains are expected to reduce congestion on regular services and provide greater convenience to commuters.
Western Railway has advised passengers to check train schedules, timings, halts, and reservation details through official railway booking platforms before planning their journey.
The announcement comes as Indian Railways gears up for one of Maharashtra’s busiest travel seasons, with special arrangements being made across railway zones to ensure smooth and comfortable travel for Ganpati devotees.
