Pune: Govt Allocates Rs 175 Crore For Land Acquisition For Nashik Phata-Khed Elevated Corridor Project

Pune, 23rd July 2026: The Nashik Phata-Khed Elevated Corridor project has received a major boost after the Maharashtra government approved the release of Rs 175 crore for land acquisition in the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) area, a move expected to accelerate the long-pending acquisition process.

In a letter issued on July 20, the state’s public works department directed the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) to make available Rs 175 crore from its unspent land acquisition allocation funds to the PMRDA through the urban development department.

The elevated corridor project requires acquisition of an additional 14.1 hectares of land, including 3.869 hectares within the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) limits, 6.128 hectares under MSRDC’s jurisdiction and 4.104 hectares in the PMRDA area.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has estimated the total land acquisition cost at Rs 600 crore and had earlier approved allocation of Rs 200 crore each to the three agencies involved in the process. However, the PMRDA’s acquisition work had been delayed due to a shortage of funds. Officials said the transfer of Rs 175 crore is expected to remove a major hurdle in implementing the project.

BJP MLA Mahesh Landge said he had repeatedly pursued the issue with the state government and had also raised it during the state legislature session, urging the government to expedite the release of funds. He said the remaining funds required for land acquisition within the PCMC limits are also expected to be sanctioned shortly.

“The Nashik Phata-Khed Twin Elevated Corridor is a key infrastructure project that will transform traffic movement in Pimpri Chinchwad and Pune. The decision to release funds for PMRDA’s land acquisition is a significant step towards its timely implementation. We will continue to follow up with the government to ensure the project is completed at the earliest,” Landge said.

The proposed corridor is expected to ease congestion on the Pune-Nashik highway, particularly at Nashik Phata, Bhosari, Moshi and Charholi, while improving connectivity for the region’s rapidly expanding industrial and residential areas.
