3-Year-Old Girl Assaulted Inside School Bus In Navi Mumbai, Bus Driver Arrested
Navi Mumbai, 4th September 2026: A 30-year-old private school bus driver has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl in Navi Mumbai’s Kamothe, police said. The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday afternoon while the driver was dropping children home.
According to police, the accused was driving a private bus hired by a local kindergarten and primary school to ferry students. At around 12.30 pm, he was dropping children at their respective homes. After the other students got off, the three-year-old girl allegedly remained alone inside the bus with the driver.
Police said the driver allegedly sexually assaulted the child before dropping her home. The incident came to light after the girl complained of abdominal pain after reaching home and told her grandmother about the alleged abuse.
The family subsequently informed the school management and approached the police. The child underwent a medical examination, following which police registered a case against the driver.
The accused has been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including provisions concerning rape of a child below 12 years of age, along with relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The driver was arrested and produced before a court in Panvel on Thursday. The court remanded him to police custody until Saturday.
Police said statements of school management staff will also be recorded as part of the investigation. The probe is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.
